The previous administration surveyed residents living in the Henderson Road and the surrounding streets on possible traffic calming measures. Four options were presented, along with the default option of doing nothing. Each received the support of about 20% of respondents, which has made making a decision difficult.

The council’s proposal is a hybrid scheme taking elements from all the proposals. The turn from Bransbury Road entrance will be narrowed, table tops will be added on several junctions and vehicle activated speed signs placed at either end of the road.

The table tops will resemble those recently built in Doyle Avenue, Hilsea and will slow traffic without being excessively disruptive. A detailed map of the proposals is available here (see the rear pages).
