Pedestrians will soon be able to walk by the front of the pier. The canopy was closed along with the rest of the pier when it was declared a dangerous structure some 18 months ago, but now sufficient work has been carried out that a court has agreed to its reopening. The concessions facing the Promenade will also be allowed to start trading again.

It is hard to see this as anything other than positive. The council will consider allowing more parts of the pier to re-open once they are made safe.
